Synopsis

Mary Golightly was not a happy woman: she and her husband were known throughout the neighbourhood for their violent fights. But in the last few weeks before she vanished, she seemed almost joyful, as if something wonderful had come into her life. That was before a bin man found her thigh in a refuse sack. Her husband makes no pretence of grief but does that mean he killed her?

Library Journal

As the weekly garbage is being picked up, a carefully wrapped package containing a woman's thigh is found in one of the bins. Yorkshire Detective Inspector Hennessey and Detective Sergeant Yellich (Chill Factor) quickly identify the thigh's owner, but it takes good police work to find out who killed her. Turnbull has been writing for years about the city of York and its police. The names and character traits of his officers may change, but his attention to detail and no-nonsense story lines are always a pleasure to read. He lives in Great Britain.
