Overview

Of the large number of Dubliners who have made their mark in politics and literature, six famous personalities are chronicled here: W. B. Yeats, Oscar Wilde, James Joyce, Jonathan Swift, Wolfe Tone and Edward Carson. These concise but comprehensive biographies are excellent introductions to these men and their times, delving into their private lives and careers through excerpts from diaries, letters, trial transcripts, and their own writings, which often drew on Dublin for their power and imagery. Illustrated with over fifty contemporary photos and drawings.
