Overview
Part of a comprehensive series by Schiffer Publishing on fashions from the Sears catalogs, this latest time capsule travels back to the late 1930s. More than 350 photos reveal what the everyday trends and styles for the modern man, woman, and child were. Pleats, embroidery, shirring, and fur were among some of the big fashion "must-haves." The cut of the clothes, especially for women, were intended to give a slim and trim look. Skirts and dresses almost always have that so-important flaring hemline. For men, suits were styled in the Clean-Cut, very popular Sports Back, and Classic styles. Children's clothes mimicked the adult styles.
