Tigar (Washington College of Law) reflects on some 30 years of experience as a trial attorney arguing in the defense of personal rights and freedoms. The first chapters provide a chronological account of his path into the legal profession, including his experiences as a student leader at the U. of California at Berkeley in the 1960s. The remaining chapters are thematic groupings of cases and struggles focusing on particular issues. Among the cases discussed are Tigar's defense of Vietnam War draftees; the Chicago Seven war protesters; Angela Davis (Tigar's first capital case); suspected Nazi collaborator, John Demjanjuk; and Oklahoma City federal building bombing conspirator, Terry Nichols.
