A companion work to Financial Services Law, this is the first truly analytical text to deal specifically with the regulation of markets and exchanges. It examines and explains the nature, structure, and operation of the underlying financial markets and systems within whch financial activities are carried on. This entails an examination of market structure and function and to some extent of the larger financial system of which the markets form part. Markets and exchanges have become a significant but difficult and complex area following the passage of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000(FSMA) in the UK, and this text provides a comprehensive and authoritative guide to the new statutory regime.

Dr. George Walker is a Reader in International Financial Law at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary University of London and Acting Head of the Banking and Finance Division of CCLS. He is also a solicitor and consultant to Farrer & Co. Michael Blair QC has been in-self employed practice at the Bar since 2000 and was previously General Counsel to the Board of the Financial Services Authority 1997-2000. He has been a leader among the specialists in the field of financial services since he first joined the Securities and Investments Board as its Legal Director in 1987.
