K-Gr 4-- Covering each single-, double-and even triple-page spread are familiar and more exotic ocean dwellers. Inside the outline of each figure are many miniatures of the same sea animal. Readers must match a figure that is circled with its duplicate. The game element will appeal to children and sharpen their observational skills. Those species that are endangered are marked with an asterisk. Most of the hidden figures are easy to find, but some are more challenging. Demi makes it even harder to uncover a number of subjects by surrounding them with eye-catching marbleized patterns in brilliant rainbow colors. The vibrant designs and figures can also be used to teach concepts about size and color. Unfortunately, there is no answer key; those who frustrate easily are on their own. Aside from this drawback, the book exhibits Demi's ability to use her artistic talent to produce an offering that is both enjoyable and educational. --Rachel Fox, Port Washington Public Library, NYBook Details
