In this gathering of his Time magazine pieces, Morrow offers ``perceptive, well-reasoned'' assessments of contemporary events and popular culture. ``His evocations of nostalgia along with social commentary make this an eminently rewarding collection,'' determined PW. (Oct.)Library Journal
In this compilation of essays written for Time over the past ten years, Morrow comments on art, politics, famous people, and contemporary events, weaving a social history of America since World War II. His essays on the thorny moral issues of the day are infused with intellect and sensitivity; his meditations on current trends such as the personal ads are witty and insightful. Morrow writes engagingly, displaying a firm command of history and the English language. His artful prose is punctuated with relevant quotes from historians, politicians, and poets. The only enhancement would be inclusion of dates for the essays to add perspective, as many topics remain current. Nonetheless, this book is a veritable feast, entertaining and thought provoking. Highly recommended.Kimberly G. Allen, Georgetown Univ. Law Lib., Washington, D.C.Book Details
