Children's Literature

The cover shows five shiny ducks swimming in the water—the shine is in the feathers that represent their wings. The inside pages have die cut ducks that decrease in number from five to one while on an outing with their mother. The quacking continues and is an important part of the last spread where all five ducks are reunited with mama. The illustrations are soft and soothing, but there is not much variety except for the bee and the disappearing ducks. This is a board book with sound—an extra treat for little ones, but it is not as interesting as its companion book, Five Shiny Stars. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
