Publishers Weekly

Seven new board books present concepts in a variety of ways. In Flora McDonnell's ABC, each letter is illustrated twice, once capitalized and once in lowercase. Two ants walk on the nose of a big alligator, an elephant holds an egg on the tip of its trunk and one small teapot rests on the head of a large tiger. Bold colors and humorous touches will keep youngsters turning the pages. ( Mar.) Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.

About the Author, Flora McDonnell

Flora McDonnell began her work on her alphabet book by drawing things that had an obvious link to one another. "It wasn't working, so I decided to choose anything that I happened to like—things that have made an impression on me throughout my life. The minute I did that, the book began to work. I think art and life are like that. You have to enjoy what you are doing in order to do it well."
