Overview

A rocking narrative ballad with an upswing tropical beat and an upbeat message about friendship and a child's deep bond with nature. A newborn sea turtle, whose instinct is to follow the moon to find the ocean, is drawn instead by a glittering mirrored ball in a crowded danceclub. Children's Literature - Jan Lieberman

This book provides a magical experience. Enhanced by shimmering paintings of the sea, a turtle emerges from its shell hearing the words, "Follow the Moon." As he crawls across the sand, he is attracted to the light of a disco ball shining in the local dance hall. Which moon to follow? A young boy sets him on the right path to the sea. The song has a haunting melody and Weeks has the ideal voice to interpret it. The paintings are caressed by moonglow.

Children's Literature - Mary Clayton Rowen

This beautifully illustrated story contains a rhymed text that tells about how a newly hatched turtle is sidetracked by a man-made source while following its instincts to find its way to the sea. A young boy intercedes to protect and help it. A cassette with upbeat lyrics and seashore background sounds accompanies this hardcover book.
