This book comprises 70 patient cases, examining foot and ankle disorders in the successful format of The Pearls Series®. A detailed clinical vignette, accompanied by a photo or radiograph, is presented. The reader is encouraged to consider a differential diagnosis and formulate a plan for diagnosis and treatment. The subsequent pages reveal the diagnosis and the method by which it was reached, and discuss the patient's course. Each case concludes with three or four clinical pearls.

From The Critics

Reviewer: Charles M. Reilly, DPM(Illinois Masonic Medical Center)
Description: This is a wonderful collection of interesting case studies, clinical differentials, discussions, and pearls in podiatry.
Purpose: The purpose to bring together clinical case scenarios and enlighten the reader to the author's thought processes, differentials, and treatment. The objectives are worthy and met with this book.
Audience: The book is designed for the podiatric student entering the residency interview phase or for the resident needing to brush up for boards. The author is a credible authority on the subject.
Features: The book covers a variety of podiatric topics, both common and uncommon. Metabolic issues, biomechanical problems, surgical approaches, and systemic conditions are addressed in a concise and descriptive manner. Dr. Jay takes didactic material and incorporates real clinical scenarios to educate his readers. The photographs and radiologic images are indicative of the pathology discussed and are easily decipherable. The book is not intended for the well seasoned practitioner, but can aid in the reexamination process.
Assessment: Comparing to other popular reference books, this one has an edge in the case study format. For those students and residents who are brushing up for the boards or state license, this is an excellent book to use.
