Overview
Egg McNaughton is leaving Cedar River! It's his turn to graduate and head off to college. The whole group is excited for Egg—everyone, that is, except Binky, who's having a hard time accepting the fact that her brother is leaving her. To top this off, one of the gang is moving away, and Binky is inconsolable. But these events seem tame compared to what's going on with Todd and Lexi. Her parents are making them break up because they think their friendship is getting way too serious. Reluctantly they agree to it, hoping some time apart will appease Lexi's parents, but when she sees Todd with a new girl from another school, tempers flare. Will Todd and Lexi get back together? Or is this the end of the road for Cedar River's most popular couple?
Everything's changing, but friendships are forever.

Children's Literature -
When Lexi's parents force a break-up between Lexi and Todd, it seems things can't get any worse. That is until Egg decides to leave early for college. Binky has a hard time adjusting to the idea of life in Cedar Rivers without her older brother. The rest of the group tries to keep things as normal as possible considering the circumstances. Although the book touches on many topics that would usually be of interest to young adults, it is often very forced. It does include a very strong moral base, but many times has the tendency to be preachy. The book also seems to be trying too hard to be politically correct, and with six different scenarios, ranging from Down's Syndrome to steroid use by page 39, it seems rather contrived. As a teacher of seventh grade reading, this is not the type of book most of my students would enjoy or recommend to others. Part of the "Cedar River Daydreams" series.Book Details
