Gr 7 Up-This attractive, comprehensive look at modern-day France is a visual feast. Full of color photos, maps, charts, diagrams, and graphs, the book is also rich with interesting facts and unusual details. Ingham's coverage of geography, the economy, and Paris are particularly strong; it is weaker on history and the arts (and there is nothing on classical music, dance, or the media). This France is a useful step up from Peter Moss and Thelma Palmer's France (Children's, 1986).-Ann W.
