Synopsis

Introducing the easiest and most enjoyable way to help and encourage children to read! We Both Read is the first series of books to invite parents and children to share the reading of a story by taking turns reading aloud. Parents read the more complex text on the left-hand pages and children read the right-hand pages, which have been written at one of five early reading levels. Developed with reading education specialists, this delightful new series brings parents and children together for a wonderful new reading experience and faster reading development!

Frank and the Giant

Frank, an adventurous little frog, is playing with his friends, when suddenly his ball flies off and bounces into the house of a giant! Frank's friends are too scared to help him get his ball back, so he sneaks into the huge house all by himself. There he is discovered by the giant, who seems big and scary to Frank, but who is really a friendly little boy.

Sylvia Firth - Children's Literature

A little frog named Frank is playing ball with his other animal friends. The ball sails high over their heads into the giant's house. Bravely, Frank hops in through an open window so he can retrieve his ball. Of course while searching, he encounters the giant who has a very large mouth and huge teeth. All ends happily when the giant turns out to be a little boy who gladly returns the ball to Frank and his friends. Size differences are cleverly portrayed in the bright, bold illustrations. The pages showing the contrasts in facial features between the boy and frog are especially good. This is another title in the "We Both Read" series intended to be used by a parent and child sitting down and reading together. The adult reads the right- hand pages and the child reads the left-hand pages. Parents should find these books useful in fostering reading development. 2005, Treasure Bay, Ages 5 to 6.
