Overview
Any way you look at it, the New York real estate market is murder. And public relations woman Liz Wareham, spirited, battle-scarred survivor of both the career and marriage wars, learns there are some ills that P.R. spin doctoring cannot cure. A society woman suffers second-degree burns from her face cream; a movie star is almost blinded by a sudden gush from his shampoo bottle; a prominent dentist's Scotch puts him in the hospital. These people have nothing in common except that they're all trying to sell their luxury apartments through the Rooney Property Company. Margaret Rooney calls on Liz to keep word of the dirty tricks from getting out and to find out who's behind them. Margaret is sure it's one of her own brokers. But which one? The flashy "broker to the stars"? The ex-boozer with the chorus boy face? The stunning black fashion plate? Liz's actress-buddy from her college days? As the tricks turn deadly, Liz must dance pretty fast to stay employed - and alive. A deft killer with an odd sense of humor is always one step ahead. As the deadly game moves into Liz's own home, she realizes that the answer to "Whom do you trust?" is "Nobody." Full Commission, the second in the sophisticated Liz Wareham series, brings you inside the glamorous, high-stakes world of New York real estate, where a fat, full commission is the prize and anything you do to win is fair game.A series of bizarre household accidents happens to Manhattan apartment dwellers who are trying to sell their apartments through the Rooney Property Company. Margaret Rooney hires Liz Wareham to keep the accidents quiet, but as the accidents turn deadly, Liz must work overtime to stay employed--and alive.

The second fast-paced mystery (after Headhunt ) featuring public relations agent Liz Wareham finds her in the upscale Manhattan real estate world. Liz's client, Rooney Property Co., is being harassed with dirty tricks that threaten their treasured exclusive listings. So far, one apartment owner's Scotch has been laced with ipecac, and another's face cream with lye, burning her. Margaret Rooney is convinced that the perpetrator is one of her agents and wants Liz to ferret out the culprit before the company is doomed. Concurrently, Liz becomes involved in developer Alfie Stover's attempt to rid his newly purchased rent-controlled apartment building of its elderly tenants. Consummate PR agent Liz dashes from crisis to crisis while pondering what information she should give her boyfriend, Homicide Lt. Ike O'Hanlon. When another Rooney client and a Stover enforcer die, Liz realizes that she must get to the bottom of both cases in order to keep her job. Readers will enjoy feisty Liz, although they may be irked with her needlessly abrasive treatment of likable Ike. (Feb.)Book Details
