School Library Journal
Gr 6-8-These titles are interesting in concept but not totally successful in their execution. The Giddenses deal almost entirely with current techniques in surgery and devote only seven pages to future possibilities, which is puzzling. Moe's title is a thorough but plodding overview of medical imaging, using too much undefined technical terminology for the book's potential audience. Both titles are illustrated in vivid colors that might appeal to the younger crowd, but are probably more distracting than attracting to middle schoolers. Limited bibliographies, indexes, and suggestions for further exploration are included.-Mary R. Hofmann, Rivera Middle School, Merced, CA Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
