School Library Journal
Gr 5-8-Part of a series that invites children to "Discover other cultures" and "Make beautiful things," these books are welcome additions. Both titles include a foreword giving a brief historical perspective, a table of contents listing several projects that reflect our global community, a map indicating the country of origin of each activity, and a page that lists organizations and related book titles. Each project is presented on a double-page spread, richly illustrated with full-color photographs and colorful sketches. Step-by-step directions are boldly numbered and clear. A helpful "How to Play" section in Games provides instructions, and Jewelry includes directions for making two accessories-a display board and a bead-threading tray. Both books will be enormously appealing to children who are ready for a more complicated but definitely doable craft experience. Teachers and other adults who work with older children will also welcome these useful titles.-Lee Bock, Brown County Public Libraries, Green Bay, WIBook Details
