School Library Journal
Gr 6-9-Each author gives readers an unbiased view of the issues involved, along with an overview of the topic. The full-color photos and graphics are well chosen to emphasize the discussions at hand, and the quotes sprinkled throughout personalize the accounts. Another plus is that these titles, especially Genocide, give information on other countries beyond the United States. On the negative side, some of the pages are busy and can become overwhelming, and information merely touches the surface. These books are solid introductions to their topics, but most students writing reports will need to look at volumes that delve more deeply into these issues. However, these are good resources for reluctant readers as they are easy to read and use.-Marianne Fitzgerald, Severna Park High School, MD Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.Book Details
