Gr 5-7-These British imports are unlikely to be useful for general reading or reports. There is no logical organization of topics-or even much information, and most of the activities and vocabulary will require the help of well-informed adults. For example, in Meteorology, a shot of Earth (from outer space) is only identifiable if readers recognize the Red Sea and the Arabian Peninsula. In Geology, a cartoon insert about panning for gold is misleading as the prospector appears to be using a hoop-basket with a screen bottom, which would not yield much gold. The layout is cluttered, and the one-page glossaries are inadequate.-George Gleason, Department of English, Southwest Missouri State University, SpringfieldBook Details
