Gr 7-10-Photography was just a hobby for Eastman until he decided to improve on the process of developing film. He created a formula for ready-to-use dry plates, started manufacturing them, and then went on to create the Kodak camera. He was a shrewd businessman, yet insisted on sharing his company's wealth with employees and shareholders. His business acumen was tested, though, as he fought court battles over patents and an antitrust suit. The book is balanced by substantial information on the man's philanthropy as well as his devotion to his family. Suffering from spinal stenosis, he ended his life in 1932. Black-and-white photos illustrate the text. A fine introduction to a true visionary.-Carol Fazioli, formerly at The Brearley School, New York City Copyright 2002 Cahners Business Information.Book Details
