School Library Journal
Gr 3-5-Well-illustrated books on the early history of these states. Kentucky ends with the struggles for independence and statehood, while Georgia includes the state's participation in the Civil War. Current facts are also included. The layout is attractive and the illustrations include full-color photographs and reproductions as well as maps. Anecdotes about well-known inhabitants make for interesting reading. (There is an error in Kentucky. It is stated that Daniel Boone brought his wife and children to the settlement in September 1776, and the next paragraph gives an account of the capture of his daughter by Shawnee on July 4 of the same year. It should read that he brought his family in 1775.).-Dorothy N. Bowen, Eastern Kentucky University, Richmond Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.Book Details
