School Library Journal

Gr 1-2-Mom and Pop Nash discover that a wolf is stealing their hens' eggs. They set traps but at first they succeed only in tangling up themselves. When they finally catch the pesky predator, they realize that he was actually painting the eggs, not eating them. The spare sentences and large type invite beginning readers to follow this funny tale, and the folksy watercolor-and-ink cartoons effectively capture the couple's slapstick attempts to catch their prey.-Diane Janoff, Queens Borough Public Library, CLASP Office, NY Copyright 2000 Cahners Business Information.
