Editorials

Children's Literature - Gisela Jernigan

Both the subject and the very informal, breezy style of writing should make this nonfiction book very popular with young readers fascinated by ghosts and ghost hunting. The five chapters cover The Basics, Hauntings, Apparitions, Poltergeists and the Scientific Approach. Intriguing information like the difference between a ghost and an apparition, the time of day or night that most ghosts are spotted, (midnight, and from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m.), and where the most ghosts are seen (on stairways), is presented in a reasonably balanced way. An introduction and duplicate pages of a Ghost-sighting Checklist are included. Many black and white drawings and photos add to the spooky appeal of the book.
