Overview
Thanks to more than twenty original projects in Gingerbread for All Seasons, delectable edible structures can be erected at any time of the year and for any occasion - from a Nantucket summer cottage to a Christmas bakery. Readers can make a lighthouse that will actually light up, a haunted house for Halloween, a Santa's sleigh for the holidays, even a gingerbread carriage for a baby shower. The full-color photographs, taken especially for this book, show off each project in its entirety and in detail. For each project there are actual-size templates, easy-to-follow instructions, and a layout diagram to assist with placement of buildings and landscaping features. There are also novel designs for lanterns that can be illuminated with a candle or night-light to decorate your house at any time of year. All accessories are interchangeable so the basics can be used to make a house of your own design.Editorials

Miniature houses are all the rage in decorating, with gingerbread houses inspired by Hansel and Gretel still a perennial favorite at Christmastime. Layman (Gingerbread: Things To Make and Bake, Abrams, 1992) takes the gingerbread house beyond Christmas into other times of the year with a garden, a little red schoolhouse, and a lighthouse among other confectionery creations. There are full-size patterns and step-by-step instructions for 15 projects, all completely edible. Roofs are made of Wheat Chex or almonds, and construction materials include marzipan clay and white chocolate clay. The temptation to nibble must be overpowering. A delightful book.Book Details
