Synopsis
An introduction to the concept of diaspora which provides the basic building blocks of comparative and theoretical analysis. It explores the relationship between migration, homeland and identity for both traditionally recognized and newer diasporas.
Political Science Quarterly - Robert C. Smith
Cohen's book offers a timely overview of diasporas. The book is also engagingly written, with Cohen's personal anecdotes adding zing rather than self-indulgence to the analysis. We owe him a debt of gratitude for reintroducing this concept and this series of books.
