HOPKINS, formerly the Smuts Professor of Commonwealth History at the University of Cambridge, UK, and now an Emeritus Fellow of Pembroke College, Cambridge, UK, is currently the Walter Prescott Webb Professor of History at the University of Texas at Austin, USA. He is a leading historian of imperialism, and has made important contributions to the study of globalization and global history.
