About the Author, Jan Nederveen Pieterse

JAN NEDERVEEN PIETERSE is Mellichamp Professor of Global Studies and Sociology, University of California Santa Barbara, USA, and University of Maastricht, the Netherlands. He has published extensively on globalization, development studies and cultural studies. His publications include: Ethnicities and Global Multiculture: Pants for an Octopus; Globalization or Empire?; Globalization and Culture: Global Mélange and Development Theory: Deconstructions/Reconstructions.

BOIKE REHBEIN is Director of the Global Studies Program at University of Freiburg, Germany. He has published widely on Southeast Asia, Bordieu and Globalization.
