Synopsis

A little girl walking in the woods finds the house of the three bears and helps herself to their belongings. Includes lift-up flaps.

Eleanor Heldrich - Children's Literature

This admirable paperback book is part of a series entitled "Flip-Up Fairy Tales." This familiar old story is brought up-to-date by a fresh rendering, but with no basic change to the well-known tale. A bear family lives in a comfortable house in a human kind of way. Finding their porridge too hot, they take a walk and wait for it to cool. A small blond girl, lost in the woods, finds the house, tests the food, the chairs, the beds, then falls asleep in the baby bear's bed. The bears come home, the girl flees, and the bears decide never to leave their house unlocked again. The art is appealing and the additional scenes under the flaps enhance the story and amuse the reader. Highly recommended at this price! 2004, Child's Play, Ages 3 to 7.
