Synopsis

This is the first and definitive monograph on Gordon Matta-Clark (1943-78), one of the great heroes of late-20th century art and a cult figure in the worlds of contemporary art and architecture. Matta-Clark is most famous for 'deconstructing' derelict buildings by slicing through their façades, walls, and floors—the inspiration for the book's distinctive design. This book contains many never-before-published images and documents, as well as comprehensive commentary from Thomas Crow, the director of the Getty Research Institute at the Getty Center, Los Angeles.
