Overview

This palm-sized book presents two of the most innovative structures of the modern age—and two of the most important art museums—in one clever package. The book highlights the New York Guggenheim, Frank Lloyd Wright's crowning achievement, and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, recently designed to high acclaim by Frank Gehry.
One half of the book contains 30 duotone photographs of the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. These images were taken in 1959, shortly after the building's completion, by Ezra Stoller.
Flipping the book over reveals the other half, which consists of 34 color images of the Bilbao Museum, taken by Jeff Goldberg.
Julie V. Iovine provides a brief introduction discussing the significance of these two masterworks of modern architecture.
