Children's Literature -
As a media specialist, I know first hand that we can never have enough books on gymnastics. This volume is an excellent addition for any elementary or middle school library, as well as the public library. The book does not address the sport from an historical perspective, but delves right into the sport itself. Safety is addressed in each section, from how to get started to devising a routine for competition. The type style appeals to the age child for whom the book is written. Filled with minimal but sufficient text and lots of pictures, this volume would be appropriate for the child who is already interested in gymnastics or the one who is just curious. As the author says "This book takes you from the warm-up to basic and advanced exercises in artistic gymnastics..." Included in the book is an eight-page fold out that gives an insider's view to competition. A must have, and the price is an exceptional bargain.Book Details
