Children's Literature

A concise look at the country of Haiti is presented in this "Countries of the World" series book. This book is full of information young researchers will need to know to create a report on this fascinating country. Inside there are well-created maps and colorful photos of the people and landscapes of this tumultuous country. It is easily accessible with a table of contents, index and suggested book titles and Internet Web sites to visit. Each of the eight chapters include one page of text and a full-page photograph. They cover such topics as land, animals, home, education and holidays. In addition, a typical game that children play is included in the back of the book. The reading level is perfect for the younger grades, K-3. Also included are some native Creole words for children to learn to speak and a glossary of common Haitian words used in the text. 2002, Bridgestone Books, Ages 5 to 9.
