Is there anything she can do to put the happy back into her birthday?
School Library Journal
Gr 2-4-Because she had such a tough time being eight (having to move away from her best friend and go to a new school), Mallory decides that turning nine calls for some special preparation. In fact, she decides to celebrate her entire birth month and comes up with an elaborate set of plans. Her mom and dad nix most of them but allow her to invite her old pal for a birthday visit. Mallory's enthusiasm is infectious and she can be understanding when things don't go her way, but sometimes she seems whiny and self-absorbed. Cartoonlike drawings and large print make the story accessible to early chapter-book readers.
