School Library Journal

K-Gr 3Four introductions to the senses, each with brief, easy-to-read explanations followed by simple questions and experiments. Each page has attractive, full-color photographsa small one next to the text and a full-sized one on the facing page. There are no diagrams showing the eye, the ear, or the tongue, or any other anatomical details. Some brief facts about animals are given. Each title has a rudimentary index and a section for parents and teachers suggesting additional activities. These books have more information than Aliki's My Five Senses (HarperCollins, 1989), which would be useful with the youngest readers. For students who need real information, the "Let's Look Up" series (Silver Press) and "The Human Body" series (Watts) both have books on each of the senses.Martha Gordon, formerly at South Salem Library, NY
