Children's Literature - Peg Glisson

A title in the "Blazers Horsepower" series, this gives the young reader simple basics: the parts of a helicopter, how it maneuvers, the variety of missions flown, and a few famous helicopters. "Blazer Fact" sidebars highlight additional, high interest information. Like others in the "Blazers" series, there is a labeled diagram of helicopter parts, a glossary, an index, and recommended websites and books. One website is specifically for children; another includes videos from which children could learn. The third is not appropriate for the book's young audience. Stunning photos align well with the text and will draw youngsters in. This works as a very basic introduction, but most youngsters will want more detailed books about this popular subject. Reviewer: Peg Glisson
