About the Author, Walter J. De La Mare

Walter de la Mare (1873–1956) creates work which brims with romantic themes such as dreams, death, emotion, childhood fantasies, and the pursuit of the transcendent. His first major book, the poetry collection Songs of Childhood, was considered a significant example of children’s literature. De la Mare also wrote a number of short stories and novels.
