This lively portrayal of Hezbollah goes behind the sensationalistic headlines to find out why and how Lebanon's Shi'ite population launched and maintained an effective, militant political movement. No other book tells the story so vividly or with such balance.

Booknews

Journalist Jaber draws from confidential interviews with fighters, leaders, and strategists of the Shi'ite Islamic organization to clarify the motives and operations behind some of the most destructive terrorist attacks in recent history. She finds among members a degree of devotion to the Party of God and an Islamic way of life that any personal sacrifice and injury to victims is justified.
