The main body of the book, "The Core collection", includes 312 high/low books recommended for the disabled reader, many which are useful as a component in English as a Second Language programs. One hundred titles are listed for the reluctant reader--one who associates reading with difficulty, failure, and embarrassment. Arranged alphabetically by title, each entry provides, when available, author, title, publisher, price, number of pages, ISBN, and whether fiction or nonfiction, reading level as determined by the Fry Readability Scale, interest level, and a critical annotation.
