Gr 9 Up-A good balance of persuasive essays on both sides of the debate about our country's readiness in times of terror. Chapters open with an overview, followed by several writings from people who think our country has responded appropriately with programs to secure our safety followed by writings by those who feel that we are still vulnerable to attack. A brief introduction preceding each essay states the writer's position and/or qualifications. Topics covered include immigration, bioterrorism, nuclear plants, transportation, technology and identity theft, and sharing/coordination of sensitive information among those responsible for our safety. The issue of balancing new regulations with personal privacy is also addressed. Gray text boxes with bold italics emphasize views imparted in the pieces.
