Gr 4-6-- Children are excited by the science fiction aspect of the future , but Homes in the Future does not meet their need for a reasonable adjustment of TV experiences to reality. There is little information on new materials or techniques for building, and the information presented is so general that it is uninteresting. Coverage is mostly limited to present technology; even the computer control chapter is current, rather than looking to the future. Homes in Space is badly titled. It deals largely with the experiences of astronauts, and devotes only one page to space colonies. There is a great deal of information available on the problems of living in space (air management, plant growth, weightlessness, etc.), and children at this reading level are ready for far more information than is given here. --Elizabeth Morrissett, Alaska Pacific Univ . , Anchorage
