The three new entries in Smith and Kraus Contemporary Playwrights Series each contain noteworthy plays otherwise available only in staple-bound acting editions. Oh, Foote s touching Trip to Bountiful, familiar and independently published thanks to the 1985 movie with its Oscar-winning performance by Geraldine Page, is an exception to that rule, but its companion - The Chase, The Traveling Lady, and The Road to Home - are less known and shouldn t be. Each is a gem, as carefully carved and polished as Bountiful.
