What neither Bianca nor Lucas realize, however, is that staying even half human may not be a choice for either of them. This third book in the "Evernight" series focuses less on romance and more on a whirlwind action plot that continually tightens the net around the star-crossed couple. Although some elements of Gray's universe are standard vampire fare, the war between vampires and ghosts is both new and intriguing. Few readers will be pleased with the many substantial plot twists at the conclusion—which defines "cliffhanger"—but fans of this genre still will be eagerly awaiting the sequel.
