Overview

Ahoy, ye landlubbers! Captain Kid has lots of advice for would-be pirates, from pirate names to what to wear to how to run a tight ship and manage a crew of bloodthirsty buccaneers! This simple seven-day plan helps the reader become a real pirate and then celebrate by throwing a fantastic pirate party. Step-by-step craft projects, such as making a treasure chest, cutlass, and a porthole sign for a bedroom door, are easy for budding pirates to follow and use only ordinary household materials. Best of all, this irresistible book comes with a pocket packed full of must-have accessories, including a pirate hat, an eye patch, a pirate poster, and pirate stickers. This is the perfect present for any little pirate who dreams of life on the high seas.

Children's Literature - Trina Heidt

If you have a wee pirate wanna-be or are planning a pirate party, this is the book for you. The fun is based on a week's preparation (or less for the more enthusiastic) for a pirate party finale. Activities include choosing a proper pirate name, dressing like a pirate, creating a flag, and preparing and burying treasure all in preparation for party. Also included are games, crafts, and recipes. This book is filled with stereotypical pirate phrases (ahoy, shiver me timbers, etc.) and is not meant to offer much in the way of historical enrichment. The book is, however, a fun distraction for young buccaneers and will help them create their own pirate identity, loot, grub, and treasure hunt. The book also includes useful templates for the crafts, and a cardboard pirate hat and eye-patch to complete the pirate look.
