Children's Literature

Blue looks out at readers from the front of this large format cloth book. She can dress herself and wants kids to follow suit. Pulling Blue's paw unclasps the Velcro closing and the inside pages contain activities that are part on getting dresses. There is a zipper to zip, a snap to snap, a buckle to fasten (which gave this reviewer a bit of a challenge, but will probably be easily managed by kids), and a lace to practice tying. And really that is the whole idea; all of the activities will require practice to get them right. It is a book that is fun and teaches some practical skills with one of kids' favorite Nickelodeon charactersβ€”Blue. Note the book is a bit on the expensive side, but not too surprising given the complexity of the activities and the craftsmanship required to create it. 2003, Simon spotlight/Simon & Schuster, Ages 2 to 4.
