Synopsis

I see the moon,
and the moon sees me.
Does anyone know
I'm alone here at sea?

A little girl dreams that she's all alone at sea in a tiny boat. It's dark, and the sea is scary. Then she sees the gentle moon, the first sign of God's love. The moon, the stars, and at last the sun lend enough light to lead her back to shore, where she realizes she was never alone at all. God has brought her safely home.

Based on a traditional children's rhyme, Kathy Appelt's poetic text and Debra Reid Jenkins' imaginative and dramatic paintings, accented in gold leaf, convey a sense of mystery and wonder and make this book a perfect illustration of God's abiding love.

Publishers Weekly

"A favorite nursery rhyme becomes a testament of God's love in this picture book adaptation. While imagining she is adrift at sea, a girl recognizes the presence of God in the stars that show her a path, the wind that fills her sail, and the dove who leads her to shore. By book's end, she is confident that "God will be with me wherever I go.""

About the Author, Kathi Appelt

Kathi Appelt, at the age of seven, stumbled and fell into an alligator pit in San Antonio, Texas, a place where there should be no alligators or alligator pits. Fortunately she was a lot bigger than the alligator, who was more scared of her than she was of it!
