From Barnes & Noble
The Barnes & Noble ReviewFor a product in its tenth iteration, Adobe's done a great job finding compelling new features for Illustrator. There's the native Mac OS X support (and WinXP support for PC users). There are oodles of new tools (you'll notice the Photoshop-like Magic Wand right away, but there are also cool new Flare and Liquify tools, plus goodies like Pucker and Scallop, dramatic improvements to symbols, and a whole lot more. If you make your money with Illustrator, the upgrade's worth the dough -- and while you're at it, it's time to upgrade your copy of Illustrator Bible, too.
Building on an already comprehensive book, Ted Alspach and Kelly Murdock introduce all the new features working designers will love about Illustrator 10. New layer and slicing options. Export to Flash. Envelope effects. You name it.
There are a couple of quibbles at the "enterprise" end. Illustrator 10's built-in scripting isn't covered (though Actions are covered in detail, and in fairness, they're what most designers will use). Dynamic publishing with the variables palette is covered, but it's so cool we're salivating for more. Those tweaks aside, this is a near-perfect book on a near-perfect program. (Bill Camarda)
