PreS-Gr 1-- Three practical vehicles to help children work through feelings. Each begins with parental notes that supply verbal, physical, and creative options for behavior. Similar in format to Crary's ``Children's Problem Solving' series (Parenting, 1982), each book offers a story in which a child is faced with a difficult situation. In Frustrated , Alex is having trouble roller skating; Katie is Mad because rain spoils her day; Proud finds Mandy tying her shoes, but her family is too busy to praise her. In all of the stories, the children are encouraged to express their feelings in healthy, constructive, nonthreatening ways. Visual attractiveness is at a minimum; Whitney's black-and-white line drawings are no more than utilitarian. Useful additions for one-on-one sharing between adult and child. --Celia A.
