Early versions of the 19 contributions collected here were presented at the Warwick Conference of the European Network on Industrial Policy in December 1997 that focused on ways to establish a broad-based community control of industrial policy across Europe. Topics explored include the relationship between self-government and sustainable development, new types of work organization, small firm policy in Scotland, the regulation of transnational corporations, and the failure of policies which encourage firm mergers.
