We've all had bad days; but nothing compares to what happens to the members of the Justice League in Infinite Crisis by Greg Cox, a novel adapted primarily from the DC Comics miniseries of the same name. As Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and all the other superhuman crime fighters are systematically hunted down by ruthless cyborgs known as OMACs (Observational Meta-human Activity Constructs) and an insane Spectre bent on destroying all magic in the universe, criminal mastermind Lex Luthor is organizing a Secret Society of Super-Villains for a mysterious experiment. His grand plan, it turns out, is to re-create the multiverse so that he can create a perfect Earth. But as the bloodbath intensifies and old and new superheroes from parallel realities are killed off at an alarming rate, can the remaining guardians of humankind put aside their petty differences long enough to save the worlds?

A big word of warning here: Fantasy fans who are not familiar with DC Comics or the extensive histories of its characters may very well be overwhelmed by this novel, which is packed with backstory. Longtime DC followers, however, will devour Infinite Crisis, described by renowned comic editor and writer Mark Waid as "an allegory with a stunning amount of depth" that includes visions of the DC Universe that will redefine readers' understanding of truth, justice, and the American Way.
