Overview

Nesbitt's (religions and education, U. of Warwick) 30 years of teaching and research began in north India and has continued in the British Midlands. For ten years, she has trained postgraduate educators—mainly primary and secondary teachers—in the conduct of field studies of faith communities and education. She presents a collection of ethnographic studies on Hindu, Sikh and Christian children in Britain, to demonstrate how this type of teacher research can increase practicing educators' sensitivity to their students' cultural and religious diversity and hone the ways in which educators represent diversity.
